mBART: Multidimensional Monotone BART

چکیده
For the discovery of regression relationships between Y and a large set p potential predictors x1,…,xp, flexible nonparametric nature BART (Bayesian Additive Regression Trees) allows for much richer possibilities than restrictive parametric approaches. However, subject matter considerations sometimes warrant minimal assumption monotonicity in at least some predictors. such contexts, we introduce mBART, constrained version that can flexibly incorporate any predesignated subset using multivariate basis monotone trees, while avoiding further confines full form. relationships, mBART provides (i) function estimates are smoother more interpretable, (ii) better out-of-sample predictive performance, (iii) less post-data uncertainty. While many key aspects unconstrained model carry over directly to introduction constraints necessitates fundamental rethinking how is implemented. In particular, original Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithm relied on conditional conjugacy no longer available monotonically space. Various simulated real examples demonstrate wide ranging mBART.

Weighted Multidimensional Inequalities for Monotone Functions
Let + := {(x1, . . . , xN ) ; xi 0, i = 1, 2, . . . , N} and + := + . Assume that f : + → + is monotone which means that it is monotone with respect to each variable. We denote f ↓, when f is decreasing (= nonincreasing) and f ↑ when f is increasing (= nondecreasing). Throughout this paper ω, u, v are positive measurable functions defined on + , N 1. A function P on [0,∞) is called a modular fu...
متن کاملOn Multidimensional and Monotone k-SUM
The well-known k-SUM conjecture is that integer k-SUM requires time Ω(ndk/2e−o(1)). Recent work has studied multidimensional k-SUM in Fp, where the best known algorithm takes time Õ(ndk/2e). Bhattacharyya et al. [ICS 2011] proved a min(2Ω(d), nΩ(k)) lower bound for k-SUM in Fp under the Exponential Time Hypothesis. We give a more refined lower bound under the standard k-SUM conjecture: for suff...
متن کاملSupervised Scoring with Monotone Multidimensional Splines
Scoring involves the compression of a number of quantitative attributes into a single meaningful value. We consider the problem of how to generate scores in a setting where they should be weakly monotone (either non-increasing or non-decreasing) in their dimensions. Our approach allows an expert to score an arbitrary set of points to produce meaningful, continuous, monotone scores over the enti...

agreed-upon moral precepts, such as telling the truth and not harming others, are rules for living together that any intelligent gregarious beings would put into their social contracts, needing no divine sanction. In contrast, little good can come from parochial doctrines that cannot be justifi ed by universal standards of reason. Coyne doesn’t dwell on obvious historical disasters, such as rel...
